At the heart of Regional Victoria is a vibrant dance scene which has been educating many generations of dancers – so it makes sense to celebrate dance in Regional Victoria with a brand-new festival!
Running for ONE DAY in September THE BIG DANCE is a chance to connect with other regional Victorian dancers and share our passion – it’s not a competition, it’s a community of dancers gathering together to do what we do best - DANCE!
Industry professionals (Paul Malek, Hara Papoulias, Lochie Erard, Grace Georgina) will take a series of workshops throughout the day and then we will gather all together at the end of the afternoon for a chill out disco!
As we well know, in most country towns across Victoria dance studios are the hub of artistic talent, bringing together countless children for dance training, but also nurturing a community and purpose (just as significant as the local footy and cricket clubs are to the region). During the recent lockdowns we learnt how impactful dances studios were to their communities, playing a crucial role in keeping dancers active and supporting their mental health.
Taking place during the first week of the Term 3 school holidays in 2023, the ultimate regional dance festival will be hosted in Geelong on Wednesday 20th September at the Geelong Sports Hub, 1 Crown St, South Geelong.
Offering a kaleidoscope of dance styles across the day, this momentous event is a celebration of dance and the joy of movement. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or just looking to dip your toes into the world of dance, "The Big Dance" offers something for everyone.
There will be programs for toddlers (2-5 years), primary-aged students, secondary-aged students and an all-abilities program!
We are bringing back summer these school holidays and hosting a Summer (In Winter!) Holiday Dance Workshop for 2 - 5 year olds!
